A little About Us

Lucy Stephens

I’m a Medical Herbalist, Nutritional advisor and Reflexologist.  I live in Borough with my partner.

Why do I love my job?

Conventional medicine has a lot of answers for a wide-range of illness (particularly acute conditions), but it doesn’t have all the answers.  Long-term chronic illnesses such as gut conditions, joint problems, fertility and gynae issues or skin problems can all respond so well to a natural approach.  These are the type of conditions that people struggle with for years and my job gives me an alternative to help resolve many long-standing issues.  Herbal medicine and nutrition help the body to move back into its natural state and I really enjoy spending time reading the latest research so that I can pass that knowledge on to patients.  I meet a wide-range of people, help them to feel good and enjoy what I do – it doesn’t get better than that!

What is your favourite vegetable?

This is so tough as I LOVE all vegetables J, but as I’m writing this in the Autumn, I’d have to say pumpkin – it’s so versatile, you can go savoury in soups and stews; sweet in pumpkin pies, in brownies or apple crumble topping (trust me it’s good!).  And not forgetting that you can get creative carving faces in it – what more can you ask from a vegetable?!

How do you rest?

At the weekend, I love nothing more than a mooch around Bermondsey street, stopping at Maltby St to taste some lovely produce.  At home, a hot Epsom salt bath with a good book and a cup of chamomile tea is bliss!

What book are you reading at the moment?

I’m reading John Saturnall’s Feast – I’m really enjoying it actually – I’d highly recommend it, particularly if you like cooking.

What is your favourite café/restaurant?

Keeping it local-ish, I’d say Enoteca de Luca in Basinghall Street (nr Bank), a lovely wine bar, where you can easily while away a few hours.  Also, Zucca at the end of Bermondsey Street for yummy food at not too crazy prices.

Marissa-Catherine Carrarini

I am a nutritional therapist specializing in eating disorders & mental health issues. I also work with people looking for more energy and wellness in their lives.

I am the co-owner of Snowsfields Wellness with my husband Tom. We live in Borough with our son.

Why do I love my job?

Seeing clients make extraordinary progress within often extremely hard emotional, psychological, physical or social situations is utterly inspiring. I wake up excited to go to work. And I love running a happy, positive and friendly clinic. I have great staff and a sensational team of practitioners.

What is your favourite vegetable?

All my favourite vegetables begin with A: Aubergine, asparagus, avocado and artichoke – in fact they are all my favourite foods in general.

How do you relax?

I find it hard to give myself time to rest and find calm. Every day I have to make sure I am truly breathing. I love yoga and make myself do meditation/relaxation CDs. I love reading, films and period dramas and adore going for a coffee and croissant and a bit of a shop with my family - we love Spa Terminus on Saturday morning before work and Allpress Coffee Shop on Sundays.

What book are you reading at the moment?

I am reading Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon - we all NEED more fat in our diets. I am also reading A writer's Diary by Virginia Woolf.  I am loving Intelligent Life magazine - it's great to have a sensible magazine with real intellect and interest - a cry away from the misogynist nonsense on most newstands.

 What is your favourite restaurant?

I like eating in restaurants a lot. Lately I have been going to: Leila’s Shop in shorditch and Itadakizen in Kings Cross.
